In Carriers and Cat-packs
I think there are a few things to consider, namely: 1. How much do you plan to carry (snacks, water, first-aid kit, etc.) - if there's a lot, make sure your backpack has plenty of pockets! or get an additional fanny pack. 2. Weight - consider your stature and body weight, your cat's weight, and then the weight of the backpack. (follow the backpacking rule - your pack should not weigh more than 20% of your own body weight. For example, I weigh 115lbs so my bag + cat should not weigh more than 23 lbs) 3. Comfort - I really like having a backpacking-styled backpack. There is extra padding in the shoulders and waist and there is a chest strap and waist strap to help distribute the weight to my hips rather than my shoulders. Do you have other things you would consider when picking a catpack? Share in the thread!

In Harness and Leash Training
When you realize that your cat would be enriched by an outdoor experience, that's a perfect time! We don't always get to pick our cat's age but I don't think there is ever a point where a cat is "too old" to enjoy the outdoors. Older cats may be a little less inclined to take walks but perhaps they'd enjoy a ride in a backpack!

In General Discussion
The Adventure Cat Collaborative was formed because we realized that each of us could only offer one perspective, mine being a 2-year-old, extroverted cat. I realized I couldn’t speak to the experience of an older cat or a cat with a different personality type. The Adventure Cat Collaborative is focused on creating a panel of cats from different backgrounds: personality types, ages, and genders. Users looking for help in their adventure cat experience can then check our blog, find a cat on our crew that has a similar personality score, age, or gender to their own cat, and then read about their experience - thereby getting the most accurate advice and perspective! This forum is designed to create discussion, encourage questions, offer advice, and provide support to everyone on the Adventurer Cat Journey. We're glad you're here!
